OOC ✧ Application;

Character Name: March
Canon: March Story
Canon Point: Post-Volume 4
Background/History: Unfortunately, March Story is just obscure enough that there's no Wiki to offer for it. So I'll sum it up as briefly as I can here.

In the setting of March Story, there are creatures known as Ills that are often enclosed in objects that catch a person’s eye (such as an earring). The moment these objects are touched, the Ill possesses a human, and once that human kills someone by the Ill’s will, they are tainted forever by the blood they have drawn and can no longer be saved.

March, the protagonist of the story, was similarly possessed; however, she (and yes she is female, though she hides her gender as best she can) was saved and managed to fight off her demon. Now she has the power of an Ill but none of the desire to kill humans, and so she fights as a Ciste Vihad—an Ill hunter—to try to save others from that same fate.

The novels follow a set of connected stories in which March acts as a “treasure hunter” of sorts, attempting to find and preserve these dangerous items before anyone else can touch them. But more about March.

As a child, March watched her older sister and her parents and her small town break their backs for a noblewoman who was possessed by an Ill, all of them constantly forced to create torture weapons for her pleasure. She would still take them away though, first her parents and then other townspeople, killing them for their blood. When the noblewoman comes for the last time—and then reveals it is not the last time, March has had enough and screams out that the noblewoman is a liar.

So the noblewoman kills all of them, leaving only March alive so that she can use her blood later. A Ciste Vihad by the name of Jake finds March and frees her, but is unable to save her from finding a possessed item and being possessed by an Ill herself. March kills the Ill that killed her sister; it is then that Jake finds her and manages to convince the Ill to sleep…as March had not yet killed a human.

Oh right. There’s also the fact that the Ill inside of her will take over the moment she falls in love.

And she’s entirely entranced by Rodin, who employed her and thinks she’s a boy.

It’s a nice story like that.

She is coming post-Volume 4; this is significant because she will be coming right after she found that Lady Janjaghee was, in fact, still alive and wraps March up viciously in a snare of lines. She is rescued by another Ciste Vihad, but not before sustaining injuries. Therefore, March will be arriving in Haven bloody and exhausted but thankfully not in any life-threatening state.

Personality:

At first glance, March is exactly what one would expect from a shounen protagonist: powerful, naive, and geared towards Doing The Right Thing. And this is a lot of what there is to her, but of course, there is a lot more hiding beneath the surface. March grew up in a village subjugated by the rich, and yet she does not resent people of the upper class for it. March could be said to have a very open mind when it comes to people; she is always willing to give everyone a chance.

Just one chance.

After that, it's easy to either mend or break her trust. She is a brash young thing after all, lunging into action without ever thinking through all of the consequences, often needing a friend to pick up the pieces behind her. She can't quite help that, though; March has always been rash, from the time she was a child and decided that yelling at the noblewoman oppressing them all would resolve things.

(That didn't work out so well for her.)

Despite that, she is still geared towards that rash obsession with making things right. In fact, that's what her job is as a Ciste Vihad, and it suits her well. There is an untold number of stories where she will lunge right into the middle of the mess and danger, just to save someone. She doesn't kill people possessed by Ills if she can help it at all; instead, she can exorcise them.

What it boils down to is that March is honestly an idealist, a youngster who, despite all of the tragedy she has suffered through, is thoroughly naive.

...Thoroughly naive. Apparently nobody taught her not to sleep in strangers' boats or not to blindly listen to what people say. She tries, though. Rather, it always seems to work out for her, despite her blind naivete and her emotional responses.

Because she is very true to her emotions. She cries easily--she cries at things that remind her of her family, and she cries at things that make her sad for other reasons. She cries at sad people's stories, and she cries at touching romances and she cries at happy endings.

She's very honest, and very emotional, and it shows. A lot. (For this reason, she is very bad at dissembling, but she does just let people think she's male, and it works out).

Along with her emotional nature, she is an absolute romantic. A good romance makes her melt without an inch of hesitation. Wearing pretty dresses makes her happy; people recognizing that she is a lovely lady makes her swoon. She is touched by all of these things, because she likes femininity and pretty things. It's just a cruel stroke of fate that she's been resigned to the role she has.

As she says herself, she's not a rose, she's a thorn. She wishes she were that rose, however, even now, as much as she tries to be resigned to her fate.

Aside from all of that, March is a very helpful and empathetic person. It is March who listens to the people who want to be heard, and it is March who is most likely to try to understand what is happening in a person's mind before resorting to violence.

She's laid-back and kind, as thoughtful as she can be, and very eager to listen to the stories of the people around her. This empathy only extends to a point, of course; if the people she loves are harmed or in danger, she will react and fight without hesitation (especially if it's Rodin, hoo boy). There are a few things that Morgan will not tolerate, and her friends being threatened, or people in general being killed, are a few of those things.

With all of this, it's clear that March is an extremely strong person emotionally. She is easily brought to tears by thoughts of her past, but she never lets it stop her from doing what she needs to do to protect the people around her. She's determined, stubborn and hard-headed, and that is all she needs to be the only Ciste Vihad that tries to save--and not kill--the victims of Ills.

On a side note, she is also very fond of talking to herself and often waxes poetic about the most inane of things.

Yeah, she's one of those shounen heroes.

Abilities/Powers:

Being possessed by an Ill, March is capable of superhuman feats. For one, she is extremely agile and quick on her feet, shown to be able to jump great distances and avoid attacks that would be far too fast for a normal human to avoid.

Her Ill possessed her through a thorny hook, and thus March's attacks are all themed after thorns. She can make vines and thorns appear, she can shatter and stop thorny and pointy things to an extent, and she is capable as well of making a scythe of thorns appear when things really get serious.

She is shown to be capable of exorcising Ills that haven't eaten other humans yet, and that she can see the memories of those Ills that she attacks, but those are rather vague and not entirely explained; therefore, it's safe to assume they only extend to Ills.

Items/Weapons: (x1) suitcase, which she keeps on her back when she travels. It will be empty except for:
(x1) broken earring
And the clothes on her back, which include her coat. This coat has a bell at the end of it that signals when Ills are nearby. Of course, considering there aren't any in Haven, it's unlikely it'll ever ring.
